summer travels, part 1.

I have been off, traveling around a small portion of the Gulf of Mexico called "Clearwater Beach, Florida." If you watch the Travel Channel, you will know that Clearwater Beach, Florida is, like, number FIVE on the America's Best Beaches List. Also, it has Caledesi Island, which is the number ONE best USA beach to visit. Also, Clearwater and Caladesi are not snobby like Miami and Malibu and some of those other places can be.

So I've not been visiting blogs or blogging myself, and I can see I have major catching up to do for some of you. I will do this throughout the week. I will have to do this throughout the week because my internet is crappy (my laptop no longer connects to my home's wireless...something about settings not matching networks, blah blah and also the one neighbor with the really good wireless signal I was latching onto when I couldn't get onto my home's wireless finally figured me out and went secured. Bitches).

But also because, well, crap. School starts (for teachers) again on Aug. 4, and my room is a mess. Which means I will be spending a vast majority of my time this week re-grouping and re-decorating. Because I will not have enough time for this when I go back on the 4th. Because when teachers go back to school, we spend the vast majority of our time in teacher meetings--meeting about ethics, meetings about paperwork, meetings about school rules and procedures, meetings about meetings (seriously...and literally), and meetings about all the brand new policies and best teaching practices expected from us THIS year. (These change just about every year...particularly the technology that goes with these.)

However! I do have, what I believe is, a very clever blog (with pictures) about my time in Florida (and some airplane/airport experiences/thoughts/hormonal observations). And after that, I will probably have another blog entry about something profound, like how much I love Denise Richards...but not that Lohan woman.

In conclusion, summer vacation endings always make me sad. Mostly because I can't sleep until 10 AM anymore.

I am very sorry that your summer is coming to an end. I am going back on 8/27 and already in freak out mode, since I am doing a big classroom switch. I really have quite a lot of work to do... I will have to say goodbye to baseball, and blogging, and sleeping very soon.
Looking forward to vacation photos!

I strongly feel starting school in august is just heinous. HEINOUS. it should not start until after labor day--and that's for the teachers. plus also, starting in august just means high air conditioning bills, and air conditioning is a really big, bad carbon footprint for our planet. what are we teaching our children??

i'm not doing a classroom switch, but i had to take everything out of cabinets and off shelves so they could push my transportable classroom (there's a much less nice way to say that) 500 feet and then flip it around. i am still unclear as to why this was necessary, but i've learned not to question...just go with the flow.

i do the same thing with vicious school gossip, by the way. except it's: don't question...just stay the heck out of it.

august 4!!! (and i *never* use more than one exclamation point.) august 4 is MONDAY, amy. oh, i'm so sorry. so so so sorry.

(except that this will be the best year ever, right? because you'll get maternity leave!)

that happens with my wireless, too -- the network and SSID stop matching or whatever. i don't know why, but every now and then, my network key resets to my phone number -- all by itself.

interesting, huh?

*sigh*

I know, p. I am so so so sorry too. And so so so sad. Monday is coming faster and faster, with each passing day.

But yes! The bright spot is that I get maternity leave. For 6 weeks. Possibly longer if I decide to take a few more unpaid under FMLA. But then the rest of my paychecks are adjusted for the unpaid FMLA portion.

I think George W. Bush's last 8 years could have been much better spent rectifying the part of the Family Medical Leave Act that goes: UNPAID.

Computers confound me. The internet occasionally scares me. But computers just confound me.

Well Amy,

I, too, am sad to see your summer end. And I can't believe that today is already August 4th! Yuck.

And I sympathize with your Internet woes. But(!) I'll be looking forward to your new blogs!!

In the meantime, I'll try to catch myself up a bit!

I hope you're having a super fantabulous day!:)
